Ontario Bengali Cultural Society (OBCS) is a registered not for profit Socio-cultural organization. It has been serving Bangladeshi Canadians and Immigrant Community since 2003. Our Vision is to help building a community together where people live with dignity and enjoy diversity.

Our Activities are focused on various cultural activities and programs along with services rendered to newcomers and Bangladeshi Canadians on Settlement, Education, Environment and Health related issues. We observe and celebrate the important days of Bangladesh history and culture, such as, Pahela Baisakh, Ekushey February (International Mother Language Day), Independence Day, Victory Day, etc., with an intention to share our history and culture among the new generations Bangladeshi Canadians so that they can hold and nurture our cultural heritage and show respects to the people who sacrificed their lives for our language and independence.

We expect that our new generations will grow with a positive attitude towards our homeland Bangladesh so that they can extend their support and expertise towards the development of Bangladesh. Organizing different events here bring our community people together under the same umbrella which allows all to socialize and interact in large scale. In such events, we invite parliament members, city councilors and local leaders with an intention to show the integration of our culture in Canadian Multi-cultural Society.

Sometime we invite prominent Bangali singers from home and abroad which give Ontario dwellers to enjoy concerts and allow OBCS to generate funds. In the recent times, during the extreme difficult days of Covid pandemic, when many people were suffering from no work and no earning, we collected funds from our friends and relatives. Food support was provided to over 1700 families in seven different locations in Bangladesh.

At present, OBCS is providing scholarship to a few Bangladeshi students who are very much willing to continue their education in spite of extreme financial capabilities. We would like to expand this scholarship activity in near future with your kind support.

OBCS is governed by a board of Directors (nine in number); and supported by about 60 Members. A group of committed Volunteers is the heart of this organization that extends support to implement various programs and mobilize resources. Every year, we welcome new members and volunteers to join us in OBCS.
